The Inner Activist

A unique program for activists, change agents, & social entrepreneurs

The inner activist program is for change agents and social entrepreneurs from all sectors eager to consider new models for social change and those looking for different approaches to pressing issues faced today, including:

  • How can I continue to express my passion for my work and not burn out?
  • What do I do with my pain and hopelessness?
  • Why are my difficult conversations so difficult?
  • How do I handle/deal with power and polarized people/issues?
  • Why do my collaborations keep breaking down?
  • How can I shift from a scarcity mentality to an abundance perspective?
  • How can I more effectively build coalitions and alliances?
  • What do I know about shifting my own consciousness?
  • How do we build relationships across differences of experience and real power

The inner activist program and the inner essentials e-course are a result of the collaborative effort between prominent activists, facilitators and educators from six different personal development organizations that include: The Haven Institute, Non Violent Communication, Anima Leadership, The Process Institute, Learning as Leadership and The Work That Reconnects.

Using a combination of experiential and cognitive learning techniques, on-line peer and group coaching support, participants will embark on a journey through five residential modules. They incorporate leading edge approaches designed to help you move to more congruence between your inner experience and your actions for social change.

The inner activist program commences with an in-depth look at how we operate and what we could do more effectively Building Personal Mastery: Module I and Building Strong and Respectful Relationships: Module II. Acknowledging that we live in a world obsessed with power, participants will explore their own relationship to power issues and will start Building Conscious Use of Power: Module III. With this solid foundation, participants then consider best practices for Building Common Ground and Capacity for Social Change: Module IV. And to ensure the learning is transformative both personally and professionally, participants focus on Building Sustainability of their social change practice.

And change doesn't happen without on-going support for your learning and trying new behaviours.

Throughout this year and a half program, participants will engage in an ongoing project designed to capture the impact of their learning on their social change work. We want to support people in solidifying and putting into practice their revitalized approaches to shifting consciousness and supporting social change.

Full program participants will experience ongoing support between modules through special on-line space provided for facilitated group coaching sessions as well as peer groups working without a coach. This will support and enhance the learning arising from the residential modules.
