The Inner Activist, as a project of Tides Canada Initiatives Society, understand that the privacy and security of your personal information is important to you. We are committed to ensuring that the information you share with us is recorded accurately, retained securely, and used only according to your wishes.
What information do we collect?
During the course of our relationship we may collect some personal information. This may include your name, street and email addresses, phone and fax numbers and credit card information. We may also have a record of your donations and attendance at Inner Activist or Tides Canada events. We sometimes have more detailed information from program participants, donors, prospective donors, Steering Committee members, volunteers and others who have been dedicated supporters of the Inner Activist or Tides Canada. This may include, for example, the names of family members, business addresses and special interests, or birthdays.
When do we collect information?
Most of this information is collected when you sign up for a course, make a donation or inquire about donating, opening a fund or grant opportunities, or attend an Inner Activist or Tides Canada sponsored event. It may come to us through your phone call, mail or email, or when you visit one of our offices. It may be provided by a friend suggesting that we contact you.
Why do we need your information?
We need this information to contact you about changes in programs, schedules or upcoming events, to mail your charitable income tax receipts and newsletters, and to notify you of special opportunities on behalf of Tides Canada or its fund advisors: in short, to provide the high level of service you have come to expect from us.
We will communicate with you or send you information that we believe to be of interest to you, unless you request no communications. We are committed to ensuring that program participants, donors, friends and volunteers do not receive an unreasonable number of letters, emails or phone calls.
How do we manage personal information?
Can I get more information?
You have the right to access your personal information held by Tides Canada. Upon request, Tides Canada and The Inner Activist will, within a reasonable time period, tell you what personal information it has, what it is being used for and to whom it has been disclosed if applicable, within the time period for which records are available.
